Abstract Orbular Graphic

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a pretty cool orb interface graphic. You can see the outcome below.

1.
Start by making a new document in Photoshop. I used a size of 400 x 200 pixels. Now fill the background with a very dark grey. The color I used was #1e1e1e.

2.
Use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to make a perfect-circle selection in the middle of the document.

After creating a new layer fill this selection with any old color then apply this Gradient Overlay.
You should have a result like so:

Select your orb again by holding ctrl and clicking the layer’s thumbnail, then contact the selection by about 3 pixels. (Select > Modify > Contract.)

Create another new layer and fill the selection with anything. Again apply this Gradient Overlay, I simply changed the angle of the gradient.
