4.
Create a new layer. Now select the main panel layer. (Hold ctrl and click the layer thumbnail)
Now contract the selection by about 8 pixels. (Select > Modify > Contract)

Now be sure you’re on the new layer, then fill this selection with a bit darker color than the first panel.

Right-click the layer, go into the Blending Options and apply the folowing layer styles:
Inner Glow
Color Overlay
Gradient Overlay
Pattern Overlay (Download the pattern from here)
Stroke
After applying layer styles:

5.
Select the ‘inner’ layer then contract the selection about 2 pixels. Now drag a white gradient in the top left corner like mine:

Lastly we’re going to add in the text.
Select your color then write in your text. I then applied the following layer styles to my text layer:
Inner Shadow
Outer Glow
Inner Glow
Gradient Overlay
Pattern Overlay (Download the pattern from here)
Now you should have text looking similar to this:

6.
Lastly, to finish this off nicely, apply Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen to the entire image, then apply Filter > Render > Lighting Effects with the setting Omni.

Why have you made the perspective all off? Wouldn’t this look better at the correct angle?
Comment by Simon — January 14, 2007
One little problem there. As the panel itself has a perpective, but the text doesn’t, wich makes it look a bit odd… Should be easy to fix though?

Excellent tutorial. Lots of your steps are things I didn’t think to do on my own - such as importing my own patterns and throwing things off perspective for dramatic effect. Thanks for getting the creativity going!

Damien,
Sure thing, but you’ll have to rasterize type layer in order to have the possibility to do some transformation. So, rasterize -> Ctrl+T -> Rotate -> Rightclick - Distort; now just put the corners in the correct positions. Looks much better and realistic
